Activities

Bright Start Daycare is a home environment where children are given the opportunity to learn and play through indoor and outdoor activities. The activities offered are different every day, but there will be a routine so they know what to expect in their day. Snack time, play time, preschool/learning time, lunch time, reading time, nap/quiet time and a second snack time that happen daily will create this routine. Other activities are done through the day as well as initiated by the children or caregiver.

Here's a sample of some of the activities your child will participate in each day:

  • Circle or group time, where the children sit together to discuss topics presented by the caregiver (like the weather, calendar, seasons, upcoming holiday).
  • Free choice: Your child will have the opportunity the learn from a variety of different activities of their own choice, such as playing with various toys, puzzles, water or sand play, drawing/coloring or dress-up.
  • Group activitiy: During this time your child may learn a song or dance, or participate in making up a story, preparing a meal/snack or working on an art project.
  • Snack time: As children sit together and eat, they learn social and practical skills--like how to set the table, carry on a conversation and pass the snack and drink.
  • Outdoor play: May include running, bouncing balls, crawling through tunnels.
  • Cleanup: All children will be given clean up time to clear the table and put away toys and activities. By doing this, children learn how to plan, organize and work with others.
  • Story time: Children may gather to listen to a story or book.
  • Special events: There may be occasional variations to the daily routine for a walk to the park or for a special visitor.

Your Child's Adjustment

It is normal for your child to have some fears about being away from you. Children, like adults, need to become accustomed to new situations. Try to prepare your child for the changes by visiting Bright Start Daycare with your child. take about what your child will do there. A cheerful goodbye, kiss from you, a smile, a reassuring word that you will return after work is all that you need to do. Usually, the child settles down shortly after the parent leaves.

Feel free to call anytime throughout the day if you have any questions or concerns.

Welcome

Dear Parents,

First of all, thank you for visiting my new blog designed for my daycare. It's still a work in progress, but I hope that it will give you some basic information about me while I complete my full parent handbook (online) and build up blog posts about the fun, learning environment I hope to provide my daycare kids.

About Me:
As a mom of two young children, I understand how difficult it can be to find quality care you can trust. I recently left my full-time job outside the home to do something I feel much more passionate about—caring for children. After years of infertility and then getting two little miracles (within 4 months of each other), I have so much love in my heart to give to other children and I’m confident I can provide a loving, educational environment for your child

I have a degree in Family and Consumer Studies from the University of Utah. I’m patient and dependable. One of my main goals for my daycare is to provide a home away from home for the children I care for. When mine where in another’s care while I worked, that’s exactly what I was able to find (and I feel lucky for that). In my home, I promise to love your child as my own.

About My Daycare:

  • Hours of operation are M-F 6:30am – 6:00pm (extended hours may be accommodated if necessary)
  • Rate is $25 per day, or $3.50 per hour for part time or drop-in care
  • Located within walking distance from Daybreak Elementary
  • Currently accepting ALL AGES including infants, toddlers and school age
  • Accepting full-time, part-time or before/after school care. Also available for as-needed/drop-in care
  • All children will be exposed to some learning time and children over the age of 2 years will receive 45 minutes of preschool time each day to help prepare them for Kindergarten
Additional Info:
  • I've just begun the process to become State Licensed and hope to be so by the end of the year
  • I have one elderly, female dog that spends her days outdoors (as she prefers it). The children love her, but she will not be involved in the day-to-day operations

Best,
Jill
